The Sacrament of Baptism is the initial sacrament of initiation. It is the sacrament that cleanses us from Original Sin and incorporates us into the Mystical Body of Christ. Jesus tells Nicodemus and us, "Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit" (John 3:5). And so we are called to be baptized so as to be reborn and have the promise of eternal life. The church has the mandate to baptize when Jesus says, "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you" (Matthew 28:19-20). This is also a great responsibility for the parents and Godparents to assure that they teach the children all that Christ has commanded us.
Congratulations! We are happy to welcome your child into our Catholic Christian faith community as a baptized child of God.

The Church only requires that one parent be an actively practicing Catholic. The Catholic parent is required to “make a sincere promise to do all in his or her power so that all offspring are baptized and brought up in the Catholic Church.” The spouse of a different faith needs to be clearly informed about that promise.
Parents must be registered members or live within the parish boundaries of St. Joseph Catholic Church. If you are not a registered member or live within our parish boundaries, you must request a letter of permission from your parish to baptize at St. Joseph.
Parents must take a baptism preparation class prior to scheduling their child's baptism. Classes are held in-person, the first Wednesday of the month. Class will be held at 10104 Hill Lane Building C (Office building). To register, please click and pay below. You will receive your certificate at the end of the class.
