Dcn. Pedro (Pete) Barrera III was born in Houston, TX and lived there for 8 years. His family moved to a small city in South Texas, where his parents were originally from, Roma, TX. After graduating from high school, he moved to the Austin area in 1994 and studied at the University of Texas at Austin and Austin Community College. After graduating from ACC he worked as a Certified Surgical Technologist in an operating room in Austin for 7 years before returning to ACC in 2006 as a faculty in the same program he graduated from. He served 7 years as a department chair and is currently the assistant department chair of the Surgical Technology Program. He has lived in Manor, TX since 1999 and has been married to his beautiful wife Misty since 2001. They have 6 children and have been members of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manor since 2001. He was ordained a deacon for the Diocese of Austin in November of 2016 and has served at St. Joseph’s since his ordination.
